I think I still have physics under control.

I'm not sure if calculus is passable or not.

Really, I just don't want to be a student.

Seriously, high school was so fucking easy.

No choice on attendance really, a shorter drive and sufficient parking, vastly easier material, and teachers weren't as big of egotistical pricks.

FUCK I have forgotten SOO much over the last several years. I still love calculus and physics though. They were good subjects for me in school too. Note not really bragging here as I've been in and out of university like 5 or 6 times.

What do you find difficult or dislike about them the most, calculus specifically I guess.

Calculus II actually kept me tied up for two years, cruising through the first half of it, and then getting killed on series and shit. This calculus III course isn't actually that tough, but the guy is an insanely hard grader, doesn't believe in partial credit, and with a huge emphasis on homework quality.

For physics, I understand pretty much any physics related phenomena IF it is visible, and most even if they aren't visible. Applying the math in rigorous structure is the harder part, but I really think I have it this semester, he just doesn't return a lot of graded material, so it's a fuzzy thing.

I'd be happier to play with real normal numbers all the time, topping out at pre calculus or something.

I'm in my fourth year at university, and I'm at sophomore level credits.

I should've stayed at RIT, the lack of a commute would bring my attendance way way up. It's so easy to skip, and so difficult and time consuming to go all the way to it.

I hate statistics.
I also hate theres no fucking tutor for it.
I REALLY hate that some assclown recommended me to the math office as a tutor. Whoever did it is going to be kicked in the gonads.

Man that sucks... even though it's a nikon ;)
My best friend had my 7D + 16 - 35mm f/2.8L II in his backpack and we were running to catch a flight. Somehow the zipper on his backpack started to come undone as we are running we here a smack! and we both look back. The camera just landed on a tiled floor. He grabbed the camera and we ran to the gate. Made the flight. The camera and lens ended up being perfectly fine. Just a small scratch on the body. Amazing.

BUT hearing that sound was one of the worse feelings I have ever experienced.

Note I'm not talking about you personally below. And this wasn't my own experience either as I didn't have problems with the material (had emotional problems) more a generalization of the worst case.

The gap between HS and University is retarded and entirely unnecessary. If NA wants to know why we are looking dumber and dumber here's where to look. HS standards have gone down and down and down year after year. University standards have remained relatively stable. WTF do you expect kids to do when they get out of HS with barely understanding trig and algebra and having NO study habits and never having learned "how to learn". Then they get to university and realize the first month is equal to the whole last year they took in HS. And the teacher is no longer there to teach you, you have to do that yourself now (which is the right way).

And like I said there's NO excuse for this! Go back a generation and the gap was MUCH smaller. Go back a few more and some of the stuff expected of HS students in math even today's university profs would pause at for a second or two (which isn't to say THEY are less skilled just not used to seeing that type of stuff). Of course it's not just maths and sciences. HS English has gone from reading and simple analysis of real classical literature to being able to read Harry Potter IF you are lucky. Then get to university and English 101 includes 3 plays of Shakespeare, Pride and Prejudice and Great Expectations.

The difficulty was always supposed to be:

Not:

And yes I know I'm exaggerating.

When I went from HS to college, there was a little bit of a learning curve but once I got used to it, it was pretty easy from there to graduation.

Yes sequences and series usually is the hardest part of Calc. I wish they would cover it earlier though and spend more time on it throughout the material as it's the foundations of calculus in many ways. It's too often glossed over as something almost separate. Which makes it harder than it needs to be. If they slowly introduced it at the beginning and kept keeping it relevant through the rest of the material it would be better IMO.

Like I said the material isn't really hard. It's the gap that's crazy and not so much the gap as the gap between what they allow through as a passing grade in HS and the norm in university. Those who do well in HS should still be fine.

You mean they thought you should be a tutor? Isn't it usually a prof who does these types of recommendations?

D:

My previous manager at NCIX was a camera nerd. I don't even think he knew much about how to take proper shots, he was just gaga over high end cameras and lenses. On his days off he carried around his camera backpack with something like $11,000 worth of gear in it. Far be it from me to be a hater though, I don't spend my money much better. But for camera equipment at least my love is in the art of photography "mostly" ;)
