Or you can be my friend who switched from AT&T to Sprint with a good deal on four iPhone 7S+ phones. I sent him a text yesterday for a deal that gives you free Sprint service with unlimited data for a whole year. All you have to do is pay the little fees and taxes. He pulled the trigger just a little too soon. He's happy because he's saving $$ and everyone has new handsets.

that is a whole lot of dough on phones

I wouldn't give my kids flagship phones. One of his kids is about to graduate college. She can buy her own damn phone. That's just me.

My parents will help out with phones but if I want more than the base model smartphone I pay it myself. Used to be the cheapest one was free, but now that that's not true I just have to cover however much more the phone I choose is per month.

I'll probably stick with my 6s unless the 7s/8 really is borderless screen. Then I'll probably get the 7s+/8+.

Totally fair. If I had kids they'd most likely get hand me downs. If they didn't like that they could finance their own. That way they can decide how to prioritize their spending and manage their finances.
