IT is where its at these days, it seems.

Yes and no. Lot of IT jobs seem to be outsourced more and more these days, and cloud computing is not helping much either. Right now the IT guys where I work are bored as hell because things are getting consolidated to the head office, and we lost most of our external customers as they either went cloud based or went to a cheaper IT company or just simply downsized their infrastructure.

Seems you pretty much have to go down south for the good IT jobs. But they also very high requirements like certs and stuff. Those places also have a ridiculously high cost of living.

I kind of did well going from IT to telecommunications because the telecommunication stuff seems to be booming more than IT. People will always have a need for phones. :p

Actually that GPU sounds tempting because I'm trying to figure out an issue I'm having in Linux and a newer GPU might possibly solve it. I recently tried an ATI but I had 3 monitors in mind and returned it when I realized it would only work if my two other monitors are DVI... but I should have kept it anyway. In a couple months from now if it's not sold I might grab it. Recouping from my file server build though. I still have like 2k on the credit line right now. That also includes my upcoming summer trip though, was a bit over 1k and it's paid off.

Sounds stressful....yikes. I doubt I could handle that kind of environment.

Yeah that's why I got out of IT. My current job is fairly lax, except when there's lot of stuff going on, like today. Storms, forest fires and other stuff like that tends to affect things a lot. Winter is the best as everything is frozen and still and there's not much that goes on. No cable troubles, no Microwave fading, etc.

Man I hate going to bed early. I'm wide awake right now but I have to get up at 6am tomorrow. I actually almost finished framing a wall. Funny how I don't have the will power to do work on my basement when I have time off.

Ugh took forever to get home from work this morning. Lanes on major roads closed while power co. crews fix outages caused by yesterday evening's storms.

I'm in a bad mood now.

Glad we have power back.
Keep those storms that you like up there.

Seemed it was high winds more than anything. Power went out last night with that first gust of wind.
