The wife and I are going to be in NYC for a couple of weeks this fall before heading to Maine and then through Canada for a few weeks so we're looking for a hotel in NYC. Someone at work recommended this hotel as they have stayed there in the past and had a good experience.

Wife has been to NYC a couple of times before and stayed at the Marriott Marquis but she thought it was too noisy in that area. Yeah...I know...its NYC.....wouldn't bother me but she gets cranky and I don't want to deal with it......so the person who suggested the hotel linked above thought it might be a little better as far as overnight noise goes.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I got your hotel right here!!!!!

I go to south manhattan a lot for work. I either stay at the embassy suites on vesey st, or the millenium which is also close by. I prefer embassy, but millenium is usually a bit cheaper.

Embassy has free breakfast in the morning and free drinks in the evening (5-730). Also the club sandwich from room service may be the best club sandwich on earth.

edit: Never had a noise problem at embassy. Get a room facing away from construction site.

I work close to the Marriot Marquis so I know it's definitely noisy specially because it's right in the middle of Times Square. I personaly like the Marquis, but if you want to avoid the noise, the Lexington location should be a lot quieter and still located in Midtown.

Btw, my friend found a great deal recently through travelzoo: http://hotels.travelzoo.com/new-york-hotels/

are you stupid? As a NYC resident, i would not consider spending $400 a night in a hotel.

change your title to something else other than calling out all the NYC residents.

I spent a night at the Roosevelt Hotel several years back. I loved it. Very quiet, with excellent room service. It's located at 45th and Madison.

Enjoy your trip!

I heard the Hotel Carter is great, should cancel the Marriot and get the Carter. If you really want to experience NYC, of course.
