So after running a couple of cycles of Memtest from a boot CD on my HTPC, it detects no memory errors.

AFAIK, the issues with this PC didn't start until I installed the RAM and installed VMWare. So I'm guessing it is VMWare.

My friend told me last night that he didn't really need these particular VMs now but he did want a test environment.

So I think I will build him a couple of VMs on my main server and then uninstall VMWare from my HTPC. I bet that stabilizes it.
