I think they did a pretty good job tonight. Many threads disappeared pretty quickly.

A group of volunteers, so its hard to get someone to pass up sleep with no pay. While you could get 9 out of 10 teenagers to burn the midnight oil, they would abuse the mod's abilities. All in all, it works most nights.

Why is it that I'm always missing these nef fests? That's the 3rd one I've heard of that I haven't witnessed.

There is a pretty simple way to end the Nef fests but it would take a little time and cause lots of turmoil. With volunteer Mods, it's probably too much work.
I call it, "Shock and Awe". Start banning everyone who Nefs it up or start parody's. Give them a month off and do it every time. There will be lots of whining and banned members re-registering so it's extra work. But, it would get the message across and get the more persistent violators permanently banned.
The other down side is there will be less page hits and thus less revenue. That's probably reason enough for Anand to not allow it.

I don't see any reason for Anand to approve such decision. ATOT is a money machine. This forum will never be that strict.

Tell me that that all 13397+ posts of yours have been purely insightful works of inspiration that have done nothing other than inform the uninformed, and enlighten the unenlightened.

If not, then you've just landed into the 'grey area' of what constitutes an 'appropriate' Off-Topic post, where 98% of most posters dwell.

yep, take away ATOT and how many "registered members" would be left of the ~115,000?

No one said "take it away". Geting rid of the 20 top offenders in OT would solve most of the problems.

Why are nef fests so bad?
I understand that person that act hostile and threads outside OT with strongly "biased" threads should be stopped. But I thought OT should have a wide range of thread qualities as long as they don't include hostility.

I would just like to reiterate this need by pointing to the incredible amount of neffing going on right now.
