Someone says Product A is not as good as Product B
For this I'll use Product A as a PS3 and Product B is an Xbox 360

They bash the PS3 and say its not BETTER than an X360, that the 360 is more bang for your buck. The Person says, I'm gonna buy some PS3s just to make a profit on Ebay, but I still prefer the X360 and recommend them to all my friends and will not buy a PS3 for himself personally.

Is this a hypocritical?
Taken from Webster:
- hypocrite adjective : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion

I say its "business savvy"

i agree, he's not buying it for himself, he's buying them to sell so he can rip off people who want a ps3 when its released because they can't because sony didn't make enough because they didn't learn from the ps2 and the xbox because they are dumb.

When the PS2 came out, my wife and I purchased them for the express purpose of reselling them. It is called supply and demand. I traded my time(6 hours) for a profit of $400. So did my wife.

Nothing new here.

But he bashes Sony and thier products, and still goes out and buys a Sony PS3! How is this not hypocritical!? Even though he is gonna resell them, he "STILL" bought a Sony PS3. Doesn't that make him a hipocrit?

Because he is not buying it for his own use.

He's not saying "PS3 sucks" and then going home and playing PS3.
He's saying "PS3 sucks, but if people are willing to pay above retail for them, I'll gladly take their money."

Nope. He's saying their product isn't as good as the other. He's also only buying to resell. If he started using it, then it would be.

Just because you sell something for a profit doesn't mean you endorse it. Thus, I don't think it is hypocritical.

Does an owner of a grocery store have to like every food item it sells? Does an owner of a Walmart have to want/use every item Walmart sells? Does an owner of a bar have to be an alcoholic?

Only if he was buying it for his own use. He is just buying it to profit.

Agreed. Do you think every car salesman loves the brand he's selling? Money's money.

A hypocrite is essentially someone who preaches one thing and then does the opposite. Another way to put it is he professes beliefs or opinions that he does not hold. Saying PS3 sucks then buying some to sell for profit is not hypocritical. It is a smart business move.

Now if he were to post on eBay that he has played it and it is the greatest machine of all time while he really hates it, that may be considered hypocritical.

Hardly.

I am sure Kia dealers think their cars are inferior to BMW's, but that does not make them hypocrites for selling Kias. If they make enough money selling Kias to buy BMW's then good for them...

hypocritical is saying that pr0n is bad, and girls that do pr0n don't respect themselves, and then turning around and directing your own pr0no
