ATOT, help me figure out where to take my next vacation

So I haven't taken a good vacation in a long time. I want to do something that is for 5-6 days this year, around the second week in March. I haven't been anywhere except for Belize and Cozumel, and even then they were just stops on a cruise...

What about a place like the US Virgin Islands? I don't have any feelings on what I'd like to do, really, but somewhere warm with kayaking, etc, would appeal to me. For example, I looked at Costa Rica - I just don't know anyone whose been to these places recently personally.

Costs should be "reasonable." I don't need full luxury but 3.5+ stars for <$250 a night all-inclusive should be enough, right?

USVI is amazing. I could easily live on St. John, or even on the BWI, or the Netherland Antilles, or any of the smaller, less touristy islands. Mexico is a hole, Jamaica is a hole, the major islands of the Bahamas are a hole, Puerto Rico is a hole.

I have been to St. Martin/Sint Maarten on two separate occasions, but just for a day stop while on a cruise. It was both my and my wifes favorite place by far. Perfect weather, beaches, and the French/Dutch culture is a nice touch. Very, very nice place.

I also liked the USVI, and Aruba and Curacao were nice.

Did you fly into the USVI or did you fly into Puerto Rico? Why St. John, out of curiosity?

1) we need pics
2) Have you thought about hawaii, i realize its not as exotic as say costa rica, however its warm and has all of that plus there is a fuck ton of outdoor stuff to do like hikeing and all that, that also speak english which is a big + IMO

New Zeland/Australia would be good also however it takes forever to get over there

St. John is a national park, so it's pretty much undeveloped.

On the other hand, you are in Cali, you should fly to Hawaii since it's only 5 hours from you.
