ATOT--help me decide which job to take***update

rudeguy

Lifer
I currently work for AT&T wireless doing sales, they want to me take a promotion which would be very little more money, but a lot more responsibility. I have an offer to go back to my former employer selling electronics and appliances. I really like doing the latter more, however its longer hours (12 hour days). Here's my problem, if I stay where I am I know I wont make much more money at all. If I go back to my old job I will have a month of making ok money, but then I will move to the new store and make a lot more....I mean about 20 grand more a year. So should I stay and take the promotion, or go back and work longer hours?

update at bottom

Depends, if you stay at your job and take on more responsibility how long will it take for u to get promoted again and get more money and also how high can u get promoted if you stay at your present job long enough. If u go to the new job and move to the new store same question how much can u get promoted and how high? Probably would go back to second job but that is just me. I think 20000 is worth to go back even do promotion is better at new place at least would stay at the old place for little bit till u can decide if something better exist.

Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there could be trouble!
If I stay it could be double
So darlin you've got to let me know...
Should I stay or should I go.

That is all the advice I can give you. Use it wisely. Us it in peace.

both jobs have unlimited potential, before I quit the old job, I was store manager...they want me to come back and see what happens...current job...i would prolly be stuck at the same level for another couple years before any chance of getting promoted came along. I am thinking the same thing though....20 grand is alot of money...and oh yeah...10 of that would prolly be made in the first month

If I were in your situation, I'd take the second job 20K a year is a nice chunk of change + it appears to have a better roadmap to future promotion.

BTW, for somone who works retail the fact that your nic is rudeguy5757 make me laugh 😀

anyone who works in retail becomes rude after a while...just ask

Rude, jaded, angry at humanity ... it's all the same 😛. It's too bad you need people to work retail. The job would be so much better without those damn customers...

ok..update time...after negotiating my current employer will give me every other weekend off..the new (old) one will let me leave early a few times a week...so that coupled with the 20 g's a year has made up my mind...so from now on if anyone in ATOT needs advice or a deal on electronics/appliances I am the man
