Yes, you can mess up a shotgun. I've read of several cases where new 870 express models fail to eject shells and have similar problems. My coworker bought one and guess what - the first time we went to the trap range he had problems about every 10 shells. It seems to be a problem mostly with Winchester brand shells, but other guns never had problems with those shells.

If you want a cheap shotgun, get a mossberg. $200 (not on sale) at Wal-Mart.

Its the shells not the gun. Those cheapo white-box winchester target load shells are complete SHIT. They fail to eject out of my Winchester Model 12. They fail to eject out of my buddies Benelli Nova. They fail to eject out of my other friends Wingmaster.

There is nothing wrong with the 870, trust me.

Learn something new everyday. No need for more us parts then for a conversion?

Nope, it's a fully built AK conversion.
K-Var Corporation

They also sell Arsenal AK's but I hear K-Var is a step above, albeit a small step. But you'll also save a few bucks going that route (Arsenal is more widely known).

A walk-in closet full + two gun cabinets full, waaaay too many to list. Most of them hand me downs from my 85yo Dad (WWII vet serious gun collector), when he passes away I'll be swimming in the damn things.

Everything from muzzle loaders to mid 1800's hex barrels to a matched set of old Winchester model 12's (410,20,16,12), matched set of Berretta auto shotties (16,20,12), deer rifles, deer rifles and more deer rifles. I think we have the complete set of modern Henry rimfire rifles including the semi rare 22mag. Handgun cals I have are 22lr, .380, 38/357mag, 25auto, 45, dad has more.

Unless it's just awful ammo (which I wouldn't consider WWB to be) I'd look at your shotgun. A quality pump action shotgun, unless you're using 3" rounds in a 2 3/4 chamber (in which case you've got much larger issues than FTE's) should eject most major brands of ammo with ease. It's one of the reason I feed my AR's the cheap Russian steel case stuff, if it doesn't shoot the worst out there I don't want it.

Maybe I'm wrong though, I've never shot Winchester's shotgun ammo.

I generally have no idea how many guns I own at any given moment.

Generally speaking, if you know exactly how many guns you own - you don't own enough.

well when i first got it i searched around, and it seems like a lot of people have problems with winchester shotgun ammo. Their bulk packs are the worst for me, it doesn't happen all the time. But the only hiccups i've had at from their super-x stuff. Maybe my gun is just super picky....it happens.

Winchester shells work fine in my Mossberg, as it does in my friend's Mossbergs. I usually buy Federal though.

If you go to shotgun forums you'll see it's a common thing with the newer 870 express models, which is kind of surprising. I mean you're manually cycling a large shell, it shouldn't be that finicky.

No pictures right now

Rock River Arms LAR15 with EOTech512, UTG quad rail, foregrip, CAA adjustable stock
Benelli Nova Tactical 12 gauge 18.5" shotgun
Kimber Ultra Carry II .45
Springfield Armory XD .45 Tactical (4")
Ruger SR9

That's damn near my perfect setup (add in the LCP and xD-9 instead of SR9).

I have only heard good things about the Rock River rifles, what's your take? How does the Ultra Carry shoot?

Can't see his pic but the .45 isn't a particularly violent round, I'd call it milder than .40 S&W in recoil. Even with the short barrel you'll be fine.

yeah it was one of the 3" barrel Kimber's (Ultra Carry II I think)

If you're looking at AK's check out K-Var, probably the cleanest AK's you'll find. My only gripe is that they don't do wood furniture. Arsenal used to be good but I've heard their quality has dropped a bit. No first hand experience though. Honestly with AK's you're mostly paying $$ for something that looks pretty, not really for accuracy or reliability.

I'll definitely check it out.

Oh give him a break. Carbine, Assault Rifle, we all know what he means (unless he is planning on dropping $20K or so for an authentic full auto AK).

thanks haha that's how I feel.

Anyone handload? I just finished a huge batch of .308 a couple weeks ago, with a bunch of brass I scored on craigslist.

img1360resize.jpg

The big ammo can has 3200 rounds, all commercial brass loaded with 41.5g of AA2230C powder, magnum primer, and a mix of 168g nosler HPBT bullets and 168g Sierra Matchking HPBT bullets. The bucket has 1840 rounds of 150g FMJ loads, with 42.5g of AA2230C powder with magnum primer. And the little ammo can has 310 rounds of Lake City military brass, 168g nosler HPBT bullets, winchester large rifle primer, and 42g of Win748 powder. Should keep the zombies at bay for a while at least.

I am also loading up some of these, but I need to test some loads before I make a huge batch of them.

img1361resize.jpg

Those are 180g tipped barnes triple shock x bullets, in commercial brass, magnum primer, and those 4 have 43.5g of BLC(2) powder. I am also trying batches of 42g up to that load to see what works best in all of my .308's.

My two main kimbers, my eclipse an 10mm auto (a real mans caliber), and my covert II in .45 both shoot like a dream. I really want to pick up a Raptor one of these days as well.
