I've been going around doing holiday shopping for friends and family. It's a real PITA to try to figure out things people will enjoy. Father especially. In that spirit, I wanted to start a thread where people can post some of the gifts they're giving this year (and give me ideas at the same time).

Skoorbs might want to refrain from ruining the suprise, but lone ATOT geeks like myself needn't worry about the recipients finding this thread.

So far : Dad - trager expandable messenger bag 265D in dark olive from ebags ($63.74 after 15% and Free shipping Amex promo) - to replace his mostly dead Eddie Bauer version.
Christine - Origami a day 2003 calendar from barnes and noble, no longer avail on line, link to publisher - I think she'll love it and it's not too much money that it'll make her uncomfortable.
Younger brother (20 yrs) - I'm thinking his DVD craze will be happy with a amazon.ca $100 CDN gift certificate (exchange rates and tons of coupons make it better than many US sources)

thinkgeek has a few neat things, mostly for geeks....but not all of it

the midas remote control watch looks cool, would cause hell in the wrong hands tho (hope i get one :)
caffeine is always welcomed by young ones
leathermans...
have a host of other goodies and gadgets worth taking a look at if you decide other people arent important and youd like to buy yourself things

was gonna get my father a micro torch they had, 40 bucks....then i found a different one elsewhere, 30 bucks and comes with some attachments (soldering tips, hot knife and polyfoam cutter) and for the other 10 i can get his some extra butane, but hes a do it yourselfer and always finding things to burn and torch

Wow, that midas watch is a steal for $40. watch from thinkgeek.com

I must admit though, when I go christmas shopping on-line I buy myself things at the same time (oh, I'll just pad this calendar with a few cds so that I can use a coupon and get free shipping). Efficiency is low, but hey, at least I'm not doing it a week before the big show anymore.

Dawneig, that's a wicked set... wonder if they're the real elements.... uranium stockpile here I come.
