Some of you may know that I have been toying with the idea of relocating to Singapore. I have talked to my SO about this plenty, and every time, we'd go over the pros and cons of it and we have agreed that it'd be fun and that we should go.

My company has made me an offer to relocate, and I'm to make a decision COB today. My mind has been running at ludicrous speed for at least a month now and I'm strained. I want to go, not only it'll be good for me, career wise and other beneficial incentives, and I think if I don't do this now I'd never be able to do it again. My GF would want to go, because of me. But once I broke the news to her that the company has made a serious offer, I saw some hesitant in her. Keep in mind that my GF is more or less a domestic partner.

If I say no to the company, I'd just stay here and continue on...

What should I do? Go? Stay? Grrrrrr... I'm going nuts, I never felt like someone is squeezing my brain like this before.

Edit: Guess I'm moving to SG.

Pros: Career advancement,no kids, relatively young and haven't chosen a place for foundation, don't have to deal with a lot of things associated being in US, ease of traveling around Asia, and I'll pretty much be my own boss (reporting directly to the VP)

Cons: Away from families, friends (we can make new friends and our current friends can come visit)

My biggest headache is how she really feels, on one hand she says that she'll support my decision and do what makes me happy. But, you guys know how women are, don't you?

yes they are like Buses, there will be another one along in 15 minutes

just move man

It's not like that man, this one is my bus, and I've been on it for almost 9 years. Yes, I've been on plenty of other buses too, but that's not the point.

If she feels the same way, she'll support you. You know her, we don't. If you think she's being sincere in saying that she'll support you, then believe it. You said in your first post you talked with her about it and you agreed it would be fun, and should go. SO GO.

I say go. If you don't while you can, you will always wonder what might have been after you can't.

Not to mention, you might subconsciously blame her down the road if you don't go, and that would suck.

But just like you can make new friends, you can always make new girlfriends if you go and she doesn't. Your happiness should not be based on her happiness.

Go ... if it doesn't work out, you can always relocate again, but it sounds like a good opportunity.

So to take my mind off this, I went golfing for a bit. Seems that my mind wasn't there at all, I left the course after 5 holes, lost two balls in the process. Sighs. Back at work, staring at the contract...

Tick tick tick... Why the hell does this has to be so hard?!
