I checked the tank late before going to bed last night, (thats why the neon is so dull, i had just turbed the lights on), and the photo was quickly and badly snapped so apologies for that.

Anyway the gelatinous balls under the log had only appeared in a few hours, def not there earlier in the day.

Pic of said gelatinous balls:

Anyway if it is eggs, from what?

I have a silver (Bala) shark, a bristlenose catfish (newly aquired yesterday  to deal this the algae), two hockey stick tetras, two corydoras (the prime suspects i feel), and six neon tetras in the tank...

Cheers folks,

Dug.

i had corydoras lay eggs like that before
the other fish ate them before they hatched

what size are the corydoras? is one larger than the other? if you have a mating pair, the female is usually larger. if they are the same size, that would be less likely they are their eggs

tetras don't stick their eggs to anything, they scatter them, normally in moss

Thankyou, my suspicions were correct then (they've been looking very friendly and following each other around for quite a few weeks)..i'll just keep an eye on them..it would be very cool if they hatched :D

Anything i'm supposed to do?

They are maybe an inch n half for the bigger (dark) one, and an inch for the peppered one...

yeah, they are probably the culprits

if the eggs were on something you could move, you could try to hatch them in a nursery tank. since they are on the glass, your options are limited. if you have any kind of netting or something, you can try to protect them and see if they hatch. tetras like eggs and they will likey eat them. or the catfishes, or any of them really.

good luck

if you want to breed fish, mollies and the like are very easy.
or cichlids, i had a very nice breeding pair of blue acuras a long time ago, i raised several batches of their eggs to adults. also red jewels are easy to get breeding pairs

i'm sure i could find something to lay over them by the log so i can protect them...there are quite a few scattered about the tank and none have been eaten *yet* ;)

might go and investigate that now then ;) Any idea how long they take to hatch?

how big are the eggs? If they are 1/2 - 1 mm then I think it's the corys

Cheers,
Aquaman
