Moonbogg, Watch the Stephen King movie "The Langoliers". Best explanation of time I've seen.

On this part of your post: Yes, it is. Lunchtime, doubly so.

I came in to post this. Thanks, Kadarin. It still bears repeating though:

"Time is an illusion. Lunchtime, doubly so."

That's all you need to know.

I do know this. Anyone who tells you they understand the nature of time is either deluded or wishes to delude you. No one gets it at all. They can make some guesses about the various aspects of it, but is actually is? It is one of the great mysteries.

Have you found Jesus?

Why? Did you lose him? :D

Don't I wish. Actually he doesn't seem like such a bad guy. Especially for such a shitty time in human history. It's some of his followers' goofy thoughts we'd be better off losing.

iirc, from a photon's "perspective" the entire universe is at once.

which, knowing that objects are leaving the visible universe due to expansion even as the bounds of the visible universe expand, leaves me with a question as to what happens to those photons?

Even though probably no one will care, I'll answer this anyway.

Objects beyond the edge of our observable universe are only travelling away from us faster than the speed of light relative to us. They aren't actually travelling faster than c relative to observers that are closer to them. Also we appear to be moving away from them faster than c and therefore are not visible to them vis a vis the electromagnetic spectrum. As for some other observable technique they may have, I've no idea.
