My younger brother joined the Marines almost 2 years ago, and just got his first deployment out east this month. Since then various family members have been forwarding me all sorts of "support the troops" types of messages, but this one really stood out to me.

For those too lazy to click through, Pepsi is giving away $50k each to the top 10 voted fundraisers. The one I'm asking for help in supporting is aiming to supply American troops in Afghanistan with sleeping bag liners & care packages before the winter sets in, and "welcome home" packages for troops just returning home.
A lot of people think of Afghanistan as some crappy, hot desert, however in the winter months it can be bitterly cold - my younger brother has already written me asking for some warm clothes.
There's no way for me to know whether or not my little brother will benefit from this directly, however it's a good cause, and, in my humble opinion, a more efficient use of $50k than some of the things currently beating it.
That said, there are plenty of other good causes on the list, so I won't hold a grudge if any of you vote for something you feel is more worthwhile
