Link here (temporary domain):

Even if you have no interest in the site, please click on the link. I need hits to test Google Analytics.

Click on this link, ATOT

Feel free to make any sort of suggestion or denunciation. I haven't actually added any real content yet, but I do want to see if the site itself is workign as it should. It's still in progress, but it should seem pretty much complete.

I also tried to install the google analytics suite, and I don't know if it's working... I need more hits to make sure.

Default template

Haiku template

Thanks for your help.

If, through some freak occurance, I hit my monthly bandwidth limit, I'll come up with some sort of prize.

Meh... I don't know where to get any good ones, and I don't really feel like spending anything on it.

Any suggestions on where to get free templates that can easily be configured with joomla?

It has a bird. I like birds. Nothing esle about the site grabs my attention in any way. I don't see anything there that's interesting in the slightest and I wouldn't visit the site because of that.

Also, and this might be because I'm on a widescreen monitor, but the page is really thin yet long. Not sure what the width is but can you do a bit more? I can fit 3 of your pages on my monitor rather than 2 and that's rare.

It's for environmental science... it's hard to make it TOO interesting, but point duly noted ;)

Glad that that's just a firefox issue, but when I make a new banner, I'll make that side a little lighter so it's easier to read.

Yes, that's due to the widescreen. The width of the actual page (inside the background) is fixed in terms of pixels and not by page %, i.e., the width is absolute (or something to the same effect). There's nothing I can do about that (without a LOT of work), but most people won't be using widescreen. Sorry.

Why not just change the font colour in the meantime?

If I change the font color on the newsflash, it will also change in the body of the text on the actual page itself.

I'll find a way to change it in the formatting, maybe, but I may take your suggestion in the meantime.

It's not just a firefox issue. I'm using IE 6 and the text is unreadable.

BTW, there's lots of free templates available. Look in the Joomla forums or do a search.

I like the haiku one. It seems appropriate and relatively simple. A lot of the free ones are flashy or cluttered, or just plain irrelavent or inappropriate.

Hellllllll no.

Find this part in your source :

<p class="small clr clr"><a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4996268.stm">The BBC reports:</a></p><p><span class="clr">"Fish stocks in international waters are being plundered to the point of extinction, a leading conservationist group has said. Illegal fishing and bottom-trawling in deep waters are to blame, according to a report from WWF." </span></p>

and change it to...

<p class="small clr clr" style="font-color:#999999;"><a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4996268.stm">The BBC reports:</a></p><p><span class="clr" style="font-color:#999999;">"Fish stocks in international waters are being plundered to the point of extinction, a leading conservationist group has said. I know I can do it that way, but I don't want to mess with the source when I can just re-photoshop the banners (which I'm going to do anyway) and make it all a moot point.

You can't even modify the page like that, because it's all built by the CMS. I'll fix it later.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Maybe later.

Newsflash should be easier to read now.
