ATOT Doctors: Low blood/sugar, low blood pressure or something else?

Every morning for the last few years, I have awoken with a dull headache, tense neck/upper body and poor focus. However, after eating breakfast, this usually subsides. Additionally, lying down and getting up produces a dizzy spell, albeit temporarily. I know that blood rushes as you get up but this happens even while lying down or bent over for less than 30 seconds. Is this normal for a 20 year old, 6 foot, 180lbs guy in good shape?

Steps I have taken on my own to combat this problem but without success:
Eat fruit before bed
Stretch before bed and after waking up
Change mattress and pillow
Drink more water
Try to reduce stress/worry ( I think this is the real problem)

My family (on both sides) has a history of heart attacks. I hope this is not a precusor.

I have not seen the doctor, simply because its become "normal"

Are your symptoms normal for a 20 year old guy in good shape? no, i wouldn't think so

Family history of heart attacks? OP, have you experienced any chest pains, difficulty breathing, or other concerning symptoms in addition to the ones you already mentioned?

Could it be low blood sugar, low blood pressure or something else? I think that would be yes, yes and yes.

It sounds like you should see your physician to have yourself checked-out.
 
i definetely have some hypoglycemia (sp?). you know you have low blood sugar problems if, when you skip a meal, all or some of the following happens:

-you get really grumpy or depressed
-you feel weak, maybe even shaky (i can even see my hand shake!)
-you might stop feeling hungry (combine with feeling grumpy, and you get "why even bother eating anymore? just let me die.")
-strange feeling all over, kind of light-headed or feverish
-difficulty thinking straight, doing work
-if you get migranes, and missing a meal is trigger for them

that said, i rarely get it in the morning until an hour or so after i wake up. the thing is, six hours or so after you last ate, you should have already gone through insulin shock (see above symptoms), then stabilized. so you wake up feeling relatively normal, and hungry just like a normal person. i think my body starts producing insulin when i wake up in anticipation of eating, out of habit. so if i don't eat, i am FVCKED for the rest of the day. when awake, i really have to eat every 3 hours or risk seeing some of the above symptoms. it's important for me to stay self-aware and keep my blood sugar up or risk not performing as well on my job or being rude without meaning to. even my facial expressions turn sour when my blood sugar is low.

do NOT eat super-sugary stuff right before bed. all that does is sky-rocket your blood sugar, then your insulin sky-rockets right as you run out of carbs and sugars. that's the fastest ticket to insulin shock. my number one stablizer is cheese. it has lots of fats and proteins and carbs, and takes a while to digest, so all that insulin gets something to work on and you don't crash so hard.

but yeah, you probably ought to see a real doctor to see if this is even your problem.
 
Something else that may help is to eat more salad with leafy, green lettuce and vegetables. The lettuce contains iron, which assists the creation of red blood cells that provide oxygen to the body.

Symptoms of Anemia

I used to be hypoglycemic and am now borderline anemic. They may be related.

The brain needs natural glucose for fuel which the body does not produce or retain.

An extra high gear Thyroid may be causing you burn off normal amount of glucose you would have to make it through the night.

Get a check up with bloodwork and see what's up.
