I know sudafed is a decongestant, so technically I'm thinking it should. But I'm not stuffed up or really congested at all... just have this nasty PND for the last two days that has made the back of my throat feel like gravel and made it hell for me to sleep last night (unconsciously clearing my throat constantly waking up and feeling like throwing up from the quantity of snot in my stomach). I've never tried using sudafed for anything but sinus congestion, so I'm wondering if it's even worth a shot.

No.

Your only choice for PND is nasal irrigation.
Sinus Rinse, Netti pots, and those other type of things.

If by "sudafed" you really mean, pseudoephedrine - yes. Its action as a decongestant is to dry the nasal cavities. Works very well for me at the end of my rare colds. The PND causes a very irritating cough. if in the USA you must obtain any PSE containing compound from the pharmacist, and sign the ledger asserting you will not manufacture methamphetamine.

I'm well aware of how to make meth the legal requirements of obtaining pseudoephedrine hcl, and am already in the system in several states. It's not like I'm buying vinegar or anything though.

Other than that, just looked in my desk drawer and thankfully I have some sitting in there. Expiration date 10/2011 - what could possibly go wrong!

Just take double. The expiration date only marks in time when the drug starts to drop in potency.

I know, right? It's funny, I grew up in a house that used aspirin as the main pain reliever. Despite expired (we're talking 1-2 years expired) aspirin smelling like vinegar, it always seemed to work better than normal.

It doesnt drop by that much though maybe 10% by the expiration date. A double dose would still be an OD.

Bah, a mild OD on pseudoephedrine would just mean that he'll run around getting things done faster. DO NOT let him stop you to talk...you'll never get away!

I don't talk much. And honestly, ibuprofen makes me hyper. Not pseudoephedrine. The latter does make me a bit shaky though, and usually causes my sinuses to swell up making me need to take some ibuprofen for the pain. 🙂
