OK, who is who in these? Fess up fellas, tell us your side of the story.

http://kitchenette.jezebel.com/more-stories-of-fantastically-stupid-restaurant-custome-1733303674

Personal one, but no where near as goofy as the ones in the link:
I was bartending. And a man in his mid-30s approached the bar and sits down. "I would like an old fashioned martini."

I said, "Sorry, an Old Fashioned? Or, a Martini?"

"An old fashioned martini," he said.

"Are you looking to have an Old Fashioned, which has Whisky? Or a Martini, which has vodka or gin?"

"No, none of that - I just want an old fashioned martini."

I then get into details about what an Old Fashioned, Martini and even a Manhattan was (maybe he wanted a whisky martini??).

He eventually settles for an Old Fashioned and tells me this isn't want he wanted - after he downed the drink. He then asked for a beer, which I gave him at no charge.

pretty obvious to me that the dude wanted a martini like they would have made in the 50's, (ie shitloads of vermouth) and definitely NOT an old fashioned.

When I went through the martinis:
- dirty? extra dirty?
- dry? extra dry?
- perfect?

He said no to all of them.

you should've just put out a martini glass and an OF glass and asked him which one he was thinking of lol

and seriously?

I once had a guy out for dinner with his wife. Although our restaurant is pretty upscale, it is in a touristy area of San Francisco, so we inevitably get the tourists who would never dream of spending that much money at home. This seemed to be the case with these two. After adjusting the temperature of their water twice, I finally came to take the order. The guy told me he was allergic to all seeds and tree nuts. That’s fine, I pointed out anything on the menu that had pine nuts or seeds so that he knew what would be safe to eat. He then proceeded to order the steak with mustard cream sauce. I tried to explain that mustard is made from seeds—we used real mustard and not the yellow powder stuff. He could not understand, and asked if I could just give him mustard sauce then, without the allergens. When I tried to explain again that the mustard was the part with the allergen, he argued that it was not. Eventually I just offered to adapt the meal to his dietary needs and he agreed. I exchanged the sauce for our housemade steak sauce and brought the meal out. When I returned to check on him, he asked me where the mustard sauce was.

He then proceeded to order the strawberry and mixed nut dessert.

I was replenishing the fried chicken on a luncheon buffet and a nearby guest backed up to read the sign because apparently, they couldn't identify fried chicken.

Mashed potatoes are three times as popular as baked potatoes because baked ones "have too much starch in them."

On theme days, they love Polish food but, Russian food is avoided like the plague because it's somehow "unAmerican."

I just can't believe that that one is real.

I guess it depends where you live. Out here the stupidity is so severe you can see it oozing out of people from a distance. On the roads this thick oozing stupidity transforms into a gaseous cloud, it's a serious safety concern and makes traveling a nightmare.
