Something that keeps me from getting blisters and keeps the black stuff from the grips from rubbing off all over my hands. Any good suggestions?

Uhm, whatever fits you well? I just went to the bike shop and found a pair that fit well.

You need to go to a shop and try them out for comfort and fit. Pretty much any glove will do what you want, but your hand needs to make the choice, not us.

Any good brands to look for? Stuff that won't fall apart? Stuff to avoid? Any suggestions at all? The only pair of gloves I've ever bought before is for snowboarding.

true!!

performance makes somes really good gloves for low prices. only problem with them is that they have an issue of coming undone at the seams if you ride hardcore.

Pearl Izumi white line or Pittards gloves are great and not crazy expensive.

Yeah bike gloves are really just a matter of ventilation, and fit. weight-lifting gloves will do in a pinch as well.

I highly recommend that you do get a pair though, for the reasons you cited; they make long-distance biking much more comfortable and give you better control of your bike too.

Anyone with 'upmarket' gloves - how do you find them? I usually buy a new pair twice a year or so, but I could easily buy a better pair if they helped things and lasted longer.

When I ride for a while, my hands start to hurt - perhaps because of constant vibration or something, but it gets annoying. :)

OK, no jokes please.

So do you gloves match your thong?:D
Hehe...nope. But they do match my team kit. Speaking of which, I need to hit the shop this afternoon and pick up my hot-off-the-press team socks. :p

Yes, that is extremely Fredly. Almost as bad as wearing tighty whiteys under cycling shorts or tucking your jersey into your shorts. :p
