ATOT Clash of Clans league?

Is that the mobile game whose advertising has been completely carpet-bombing the entire East Coast lately? You can't go to a train station without seeing one of their posters.

I see their tv spot all the time and I barely watch tv.

PS I have seven month old twins. No time to sleep, let alone play.

Okay, well I'm glad we're not the only ones subjected to their ridiculous advertising slogans. Whoever comes up with drivel like "Stare into the eyes of my moustache" deserves a swift kick in the ass and a creative writing refresher course.
 
I'd probably join but I don't play enough to be very useful, I guess. I just left the "Programmers" clan I was a part of because I didn't participate in the clan wars enough. I login everyday and whatnot but I would only use one of my two attacks in the war. I suck shit at the game anyway.
 
I'm already in a fairly decent clan.

This game is getting pretty annoying now that I am TH8. The amount of resources you need to stay competitive is staggering and I keep getting attacked and can't keep growing my base.

For example, I need to upgrade my barbarians and archers to level 5, which require 1.5m and 2.25m elixir respectively. Do you know how hard it is to save up that much elixir when people with higher trophies than me, with all level 5 or 6 attackers, plus Barb King level 5+ and even Archer Queens can attack me? Natural answer is, "well build up better defense"... which ends up turning into the same dilemma because to upgrade to anything that could stop those attacks, you need 1M+ gold, which ends up with the same attacks and loosing resources every time.

That's cute, wait until all your lab upgrades are ~7M. Drop trophies if you need to. Put your TH outside if you need to.

I'm pretty surprised this hasn't come up sooner here to be honest. I have a couple of towns that I play very casually now, so I'm definitely up for some fun social times with people I actually know (...on the internet). I vote for a more ATOT-specific name, though.

My TH is outside, I have a farming set up. The trophy requirement for my clan right now is 1300, and I'm sitting at the high 1400's. I guess if it came down to it, I could drop down trophies a bunch and opt out of my clan then rejoin after a bunch of attacks to get back over 1300.

I'm in a good clan as well.

I hit TH8 a few weeks ago and it's the worst of the bunch. I was just getting hammered and could not farm resources. However if you sit around 1200 it's not that bad and I now have Level 5 archers and barbarians and it's back to normal and fun again.

The key to this game is to not rush bases. Do not level up your town hall until you have everything else maxed. You can probably skimp on collectors but even those are a good buffer and the higher the level the more HP they have. Walls? I wish I had leveled them all up before hitting TH8.
 
Getting 300,000 resources by spending 30,000 is pretty easy if you just farm up level 5 barch. My suggestion would be to farm up the 1.5 million (I actually did archers first) and then wait 5 days and farm up the 2.25 million right before your barbs finish. I spent way too much time farming up resources only to lose them over and over again. Rather than farm for 5 days just put in a couple hours on the train or while vegging on the couch.

2 mil is easy to get. Just upgrade your base so you don't get pillaged so easily.

For higher upgrades, I mass Barbarians and Archers because they're cheap. Don't settle for less than 200k a raid. To keep from getting attacked, I keep the game running while I do something more fun, like wash dishes. Just touch the screen every few minutes so you don't get logged out.

Also, the one week shield is helpful on occasion.

At higher trophy levels, it's impossble to not get attacked when you are resource fat. I'm taking the user's advice above and dropping down to 1200 trophies while I farm up enough elixir to get level 5 arch and barb. Then ill attack my way back to 1300 to join my clan again.

I am a mid TH9 and those numbers sound so good right now. AD lvl 7 costs 4.3 mill gold, level 7 tesla 3.5, etc. AQ 6 was 6 mill. It is a major grind and I haven't even touched my walls yet (they are at level 8)
 
If you farm 4 million resources and get hit for 400,000 it's ok too for the shield. I keep my TH outside on the edge of the map and get lots of shields. TH8 in the begining is just nasty business though since farming is so hard with level 5 troops. I'd try going up to 1400 to see how it is and then down to 1200 if nothing is working up there.
 
I'm at 1800 trophies and level 9. Droping trophies does nothing to keep you from getting attacked and everyone you attack has only 5k resources to take.
