In reference to this thread, I've decided to take the initiative and start fresh as the last one really didn't get us anywhere. I've gone ahead and made us a Frapper map:

http://www.frappr.com/atotchicago

Let's all put ourselves on the map so we can see where we're all at. From there we can find a fairly central (or else accessible) location to serve as a venue for a meet.

Let's make it happen. Any thoughts for the weekend of the 19th or 26th?

EDIT 9/13/06 - This Saturday, at Grant Park, my band is playing at Celtic Fest. Parade at 11:15am, concert at 3pm. I think our spot is just north of Buckingham Fountain, can't remember.

Also, this Sunday, blodhi74 and I are planning to get together at a sports bar for the Bears game. Location TBA...

Ok I added myself to the frappr map. As I suggested in the prior thread, I think that the Chicago Jazz Fest would be a great place to meet up. It's free, open to the public, and the people who wish to drink can. There's plenty of food and good music as well. It starts on Thursday Aug. 31st and goes through September 3rd. Let me know what you guys think.

Yet Another Chicago Meet Thread That Will Never Materialize :)

City dwellers don't want to leave the limits and the suburbanites don't want to go to the city.

I for one don't mind traveling for a meet. Effowe, why don't you go ahead and put the Jazz Fest venue on the map too, as a possible meeting joint.

Waggy, I see Rockford is convenient to you, but it won't be to all of us. Care to meet us in the middle somewhere?

Ultimately whoever really wants to come to the meet will come, and those who don't can stay home and jack it.

i would go somplace in the middle. like fox valley mall or such (not sure where that is compared to chicago though).

i just can't drive to far. about an hour (one way) is good for me. like i said one of the outer burbs would be great.

The Jazz Fest is right downtown at Grant Park. It's Between Michigan and Lake Shore right off Jackson. It's only like 10 blocks east of Union Station so people who don't want to drive can easily take the Metra in and walk to the event.

Hmm ... as much as I hate going downtown .... If it's near grand Central the metra would work for me ...

I have added myself to the list

EDIT: I have an uber photo!

We can always do a burbs meetup too if this is going to turn into a stalemate again.. I'll go wherever as long as there is booze.
