I'm gonna give this a shot. lol.

I know there's a decent number of people here that listen to asian music, so i'd like to encourage you guys to contribute/share stuff you like and listen to. you can already imagine what the thread will end up like if it's just me uploading stuff. :D:D

please include language/nationality. descriptions/info would be nice too.

please keep threadcrapping to a minimun. :)

i'll start the thread off with a tribute to ZONE
they are disbanding today (april 1st). they've been around in one form or another since 97/98, but their first big label release was with sony music in 2001 and their 3rd single secret base was the huge hit that brought them into the starlight.
outside of hello project, they are probably my favorite group. <3 i will miss them. :(

Maiko (bass) Takayo (guitar) Miyu (guitar) Mizuho (drums) Takayo (keyboard/guitar)

ZONE
japanese

egao biyori (185mb mpg2)
their final single released earlier this month

akashi (99mb avi)

good days (56mb avi)
their debut single

boku no tegami (71mb avi)

sotsugyou (subtitled) (77mb avi)
1st single released after the graduation of their leader takayo and with new member tomoka

secret base performance (125mb mpg)
performance at the 2003 kouhaku annual music show. one of my favorite performances. <3

I've listened to David Tao's stuff for a few years now, but I can't say that his newest album is very good.

Other than him, I haven't gotten anything new in a few months.

Chemistry is an awesome duo, I personally like Move On (Album Version) and they also take part in 2002's world cup theme song Let's get Together Now.

I had a roomate who listened to Namie Amuro. I liked her music, or at least the songs in the late 90's.

i like some of boa's stuff, not the britneyesque stuff though.

i like some of namie's older ballady stuff, don't care for her r&b/hiphop'ish stuff.

i'm thinking what i should upload next. maybe some xjapan or other rock.

For some reason I really like a lot of songs from animes, but I never know who they are (they all sound the same). Crap, I don't even watch anime.

Is there such thing as non poppy asian music, because dc just going by what I've seen it is all like 10x worse than Nsync and any pop we have in the states and I hate pop, and therefor hate asian music.

edit: other than anime music. Are there any asian bands that are non-pop non-anime?

<--mostly hk music: joey, jordan, kelly chan (oof), leo, eason, sammi, deep ng. all the other new ones can't sing with crap.

also FIR, jasmine leung, tao jie, tao jie's boys TENSION, stef sun, penny dai and of course jay. none of the low-quality stuff like jolin (bak chi), twins (inexplicably irresistible sometimes), and f4 (gag).

wang leehom too, altho he's gone gangsta lately. just finished watching the mtv's off his latest album. i gave up japanese and korean music because i realized it didn't understand a word that was being said. except the occasionaly 'that's right' and 'baby'.
