I tried taking out money and the machine didn't distribute any cash to me on my first attempt. Has anyone been in this kind of situation before? What did you do?

What happened on your 2nd attempt?

bills came out.

yes I am planning to contact them when I have a chance. question is if anyone know what the procedure is? is there paperwork? will i receive credit for this? or will they tell me to go away? lol

this was at a non-bank atm btw. more of a dingy atm at a bar....

 I would call the bank NOW. How do you prove you didn't get $$ the 1st time?

Out of curiosity, why did you try it a 2nd time?

My son had the same problem. After making fun of him and calling him an idiot for using one of those types of ATM machines, I also pointed him toward being able to complain to his bank about it. It was $180 IIRC, and took nearly 2 months, but he got his money back.

Did you receive two receipts? What was the error?

Call you bank ASAP with ATM vendor/location information.

I'd look into the camera, raise my hands to shoulder level and mouth, "where's my fucking money?"

If I recall from my banking days, the ATM will show out-of-balance if it thinks it really gave you the cash (ie. no error, receipt shows you received it) and at the "end of the day" the cash drawer still has extra money in it. The bank requests proof of the cash dispense from the machine owner, the system shows out-of-balance on the day in question, and you get your money back.

If it gave an error on the machine and you have a receipt that says "Couldn't dispense cash" or some such, then the transaction was cancelled within the ATM and never hit your bank.

Call your bank with a polite attitude. Don't be like the typical ATOT guy who calls his bank "Hey bitches you stole my money and I want it back RIGHT NOW, God Damn It!" Then write a thread here claiming he politely tried to work with the bank and their customer service was nothing but angry, unhelpful jerks.

It would have looked more suspicious if he HADN'T tried a second time, I would think.
I was thinking fool me once....

I needed cash bad :p. So yea of course I'm going to call my bank. Thing is I was wondering if anyone knew what the process is like. Will they credit it to me or will I have to fight over this for the next few months?

They can probably check the machine and verify that the bill count is not consistent with what is reported in the system. It may take some time, but you should be able to get your money back.

Had a bank ATM eat my paycheck with no record of it in the early morning (before they opened). Stood around and waited for the bank to open and they couldn't do anything. Called some number and got a provisional credit during the investigation, but found many horror stories online of others at the same bank having it taken back after the investigation concluded without finding the check. Mine ended without drama. This was Bank of America.

I'll be recording myself if I ever have to use one of those 3rd-party ATMs.

Check you account online to see if it's been hit with 2 withdrawals.

Assuming it did double withdraw, Call your bank and the ATM company. If you're lucky the bank will just deal directly with the ATM company, but I'd call them anyway just to make sure.

1-2 weeks for the bank to verify from the ATM system that the funds were not given out.

Happened to me a few months ago with a Chase ATM. Was shorted $20.

The group within a banking system that handles the ATMs is different than those behind the counters - so you have to work with the system.

The machine balance did not match and they had my complaint on file.
