The Atlantic's October issue has an interesting letter to the editor that indicates Bush may suffer from "presenile dementia."

The writer is an MD who says that bush's declining debate prowess is a clear sign that he is getting worse with age.

Bush was articulate through his 40's. Now he pauses for big words and invents mangled new ones.

The writer indicates that it is the same basic affliction that struck R. Reagan but at a much earlier age. He states that bush's "mangled" words are a demonstration of what physicians call "confabulation" and are almost specific to the diagnosis of a true dementia.

He conlcudes with "...Bush should be be given the advantage of a considered professional diagnosis, and started on drugs that offer the possibility of retarding the slow but inexorable course of the disease."

Maybe it's something in the water at the white house?

Yeah, Hg and Pb. He's not senile, he's stupid.

Watching W try to speak for the last few years is proof enough that he 'ain't quite right in the head.' I've never seen anyone that stupid attempt to sound informed, it really is amazing.

Well, Bush likes lead and arsenic in his water. Maybe he has been sipping on the side instead of alcohol.

It's just one man's observations from afar....not like he has proof.

However, that one man is an expert in this particular field, which sets him apart from you or me and lends credence to his observations.

The best Bushism of last night's debates was when he attempted to say Kerry sent mixed messages and instead Bush said somthing like: Kerry sends messed mixages.

But I don't think without any other proof that Bush has dimentia. That sounds a bit too far fetched at this point with our evidence.

Bush is crafty and smarter than he lets on. The village idiot routine is to make people think he is like the common man. Over all this is one of the most secretive, and controlled administrations ever. Everythign is on message. They are ceating an image of Bush, Iraq, and Americas place in the world that defies reality. To this point many seem to believe it. but its not reality.

This is bunk.

The basic argument is that Bush was articulate 10yrs ago and now he is not. I'll bet that 10yrs ago, there were no handlers who scripted his every word. Today, he is the face of a neocon administration who fills him up the wazoo with memorized talking points (or "key messages") - the man's every word is scripted and sometimes when this comes out it gets garbled.

It's the 1050+ dead soldiers souls that are haunting him...explains the nonsensical "let me finish" remark perfectly. He's headed for the funny farm soon enough.
