Atlanta Falcons - Super Bowl bound?

How about those two dominant rushing performances? John Abraham and DeAngelo Hall on defense = Every offense's worst nightmare.

Michael Vick - Never gotten the credit he deserves. Finally he is in the offense he was meant for all along: The college option.

Maybe after they lay waste to New Orleans on Monday some peeps here will start to recognize!

You mean, the VT Falcons?? They're defense looks pretty darn good. Hopefully Vick stays healthy.

After Atlanta's bye week, they'll wake up and return to reality. Once opposing teams get a lead, and then Atlanta has to resort on Vick's arm, the real Falcons will show up, yet again. Atlanta's first two games were against teams that will struggle to even be in playoff contention..

Even if they make it, Atlanta will not go very deep in the playoffs. At some point they'll need Vick's arm to win and he can't hit the side of a barn from the inside.

If the defense can keep playing the way it has the first two weeks, they'll have a shot. It will keep teams from getting big leads and allow the Falcons offense to run Vick the way they need him to run. They played very well last week despite missing John Abraham and with Patrick Kerney injured and ineffective.

However, Tampa was the first team to see the college belly option out of the Falcons. Expect future defenses to already to be adjusting to it.

Still, the Falcons and the Saints both with 2-0 starts is pretty much unheard of. The Falcons starting the season out 2-0 in their division is pretty much unheard of too. That gives them a huge advantage for the rest of the season.

If you've watched either of the games this year you'll notice one important thing about Vick....he's not taking hits like he did the previous years when he's running down the field. He drops to the turf or runs out of bounds before anyone has the opportunity to make contact. The worse hit he has taken has been a sack in the backfield.

All of Vick's running around makes me wonder about one thing thouh...the Falcon's currently have three First Round WRs on their roster (White, Lelee, and Jenkins) as well as an All-World TE in Crumpler. These guys have got to be getting a bit worried about their number of opportunities to catch the ball. As long as the Falcons are winning, it will probably be OK. But if the Falcons hit a slump like they did in the second half of the season last year, watch out.

John Abraham shows up big in one or two games and sleeps for the rest of the season. It's what he's always done in the past.

Those WRs need to move to a team with a real QB. Crumpler definately deserves better too.

He's the same guy who decides when he feels like suiting up for playoff games

What are you basing this off of? I watched every snap of the Falcons so far & Vick is a much better passer this year than last. His decision making, throwing mechanics, and managing the game is much improved. He hasn't had to pass the ball much because Atlanta is basically picking up 8 yards per rush. He's also avoiding a lot of hits as well. Falcons running game is just sick (252 & 306, most rushing yards ever given up by the Panthers & Bucs), that option is only a dual threat (Dunn in the inside or Vick running outside depending on how the defense reacts) & the Bucs couldn't stop it. The Falcons are going to expound on this as the season progresses (only have 2 looks now, but should have about 20 by the end of the season). The defensive line looks great with JACK (grady Jackson, john Abraham, rod Coleman, and partrick Kerney). Abraham was unstoppable in the preseason and looked great against the Panthers, he should be ready for the Saints game on Monday Night. Ed Hartwell should be back for the Monday Night game as well after missing both games. The Falcons couldn't stop the run last season but Chris Crocker & Lawyer Milloy at safety has greatly rectified the problem (Grady Jackson helping the most). Barring injury, and as the offense expands and defense gels I think the Falcons are a major contender in the NFC.

That's a good joke. Once the Falcans play a team with an average QB, they will get hammered back to reality. You run for 300+ yards and can only get 2 TDs. The Bucs had every chance and should have beat the Falcans. Idiot Simms decides he should throw into triple coverage in the endzone, only for the Birds to get some flike INT, or have 2 guys wide open in the endzone and throw it 10 yards over their heads.

2 TDs, you noticed our kicker missed 4 FG's? That's 26 right there if hit them. Not to mention the playcalling was real conservative in the redzone on our part. Bucs had every chance & should have beat the Falcons? What game were you watching? Every pundit watching the game said the Bucs got dominated. Hell, even the Bucs fans on the Bucs message board admitted as much. Chris Simms sucks but we made Jake Delhomme look silly as well. The only time the Bucs had any type of success was when they went to the 2 minute offense & we were playing that soft coverage, prevent defense stuff.

I think ev eryone can admit that without Steve Smith, Delhomme is not a good QB.

2 TD vs 4 FGs...once a team gets into scoring territory, a FG is a win for the defense.

Enjoy the Falcons now b/c when they hit the meat of their schedule, they'll fall apart.

Delhomme was a good QB when Steve Smith was out for the season 2 seasons ago (although Delhomme had Mushin Muhammed). A FG is a win for the defense but again the Falcons helped the Bucs out by going real conservative. Not to mention, the Falcons only punted twice the whole game. Falcons FG kicking game needs real work though. Don't worry, I'm enjoying it & if they fall apart it would be due to injuries.

2 of those misses were because they were blocked. The Bucs kicker missed 2 and they had a TD called back. I guess you missed the 2 INTs the Falcons had in the endzone and the wideopen Ike Hillard Simms missed.

Once a pro team shuts down the Atlanta run (and one will), the Falcons will lose since they have a RB with an above average arm in as QB.

A top notch defense will shut down the run.

Koenen has a low trajectory on his kicks, before this season he only kicked 50+ yarders. The 2 INTs in the endzone, one was a hailmary pass that Simms just threw up into double coverage. The other was a tipped ball from the 10 yard line on 3rd down. A TD called back but an Ashley Lelie pass interference call at the 3 yard line wasn't called as well.

Division games aren't part of the "meat of their schedule"? They've got 4 tough games on the schedule left - Giants, Steelers, Ravens, and Eagles. Based on the first two weeks of the season, there really isn't any reason the Falcons shouldn't be the leading contender for the NFC South title and a playoff berth. If they beat the Saints on MNF next week, they'll have a big lead.

BTW, Vick is 20 of 37 (54%) in the first two games. Solid but not spectacular.
