Well, here is my little 3rd day of induction writeup. I started Atkins two days ago, 10-6-03, so my last carbs were Sunday night.

On Monday I ate: bowl of tuna for breakfast... Two cheddar hotdogs for lunch, fried egg with slice of cheese for dinner... drank a ton of water.

Tuesday: Fried egg with slice of cheese for breakfast.... for lunch I had 4 pieces of bacon, two filets of talapia (fish).... And for dinner I had two pork chops with hot sauce

Weds, today: Breakfast: fried egg with slice of cheese. Haven't had anything else yet.

So... progress and things I've noticed: I drink tons and tons of water throughout the day, which consequently leads to a lot of pissing. This is gross, but I have not gone #2 since Sunday... it's now Weds. I have had zero carbs since Sunday and I am actually not hungry.

Look at my picture below (fiancee and I) that is me in October of 2001, two years ago. This is me two nights ago:

Website with progress pics

EDIT: In the pic of my sig, I weighed roughly 185... I weighed 225 this past Sunday.

I'm too scared to click on the pics in my school's library...

However, I think I might try the Atkins. I'm gonna have to switch to a low-carb beer, though... Michelob Ultra on tap (mmm.. :roll;)

Whoa, slow down Jason... You need to intake some carbs, NOT zero... And get some fiber and vegetables in your diet!

Have you read the book yet? If not, you really need to go get it asap.

You need to eat a lot of fiber or salad when on an Atkins type diet. You are in for a world of pain otherwise.

Nope. Also, there is no way you are getting enough nutrients with what you've listed.

I take a multivitamin before I go to bed as well. When I go home for lunch I'll make sure I eat some veggies with my tuna salad.

When I researched and read Atkins.com, the induction period pretty much just says eat liberal amounts about meats, cheeses, and no more than 20 grams of carbs, so I ASSUMED (idiot!) that the less I ate the more I would increase weight loss.

I think it would be an excellent idea for you to read through the book. It's much easier to stick to this plan when you know why it works, and how to maintain it. The website is an excellent resource, but it isn't as comprehensive as the book.

And no, less carbs does not necessarily equal more weight loss. After Induction, the plan is to increase carbs gradually to find out where your weight loss stalls. It could very well be the case that you lose the same amount of weight intaking 25-30g that you do at 0g.

One more thing you need to keep in your mind is that this is a marathon, not a sprint. If you were planning on limiting yourself to zero carbs, in the hopes to get to your target weight asap, then you are most likely going to get burned out and quit. Take it easy, and realize this is not a short term fix.

Your body needs some carbs, in particular you need the nutrients in green leafy vegtables and fiber present in those vegetables.

That is unless you want to end up in the hospital having an enema to flush your intestines.

Dude, that's not Atkins!

Atkins you take in 20g of net carbs per day for a couple of weeks and then bump up by 5g each week thereafter and eventually hit a peak at 100g/day.

Go to http://www.atkins.com or, better yet, buy the book!

Which is the book that has the most complete and up to date info? I did a quick search of my Library and they have a whole bunch of books from Atkin. Latest one is called Atkins for Life but there's also a bunch of New Diet Cookbooks and such as well.

Multivitamins will not make up for what you are not getting with your food. They are called supplements for a reason, rather than replacements. ;)
