How can anyone possibly do an Atkins-variant diet?

I cannot give up breads, pasta, rice or potatoes. I mean, a breadless sandwich is just meat and cheese. 😕

I do it. You can eat those things in moderation. You limit carbs not completely shun them. Induction is not Atkins only a phase of it. My carb intake is about 60 net carbs per day. Enough for me to eat a sandwich, a potato, rice, or pasta if I choose.
 
It's really tough, but, so is any diet if you are trying to stick with it you have to cut back or give up on something you don't like. That said I agree with you, it's good stuff, even though I know I've been programmed to think that way.

What's your point, Neffzilla? When I want to lose weight (which I would like to lose the 10 pounds I've gained back) I watch what I eat. I.E. I eat in moderation, not go on some stupid diet like Atkins.

Of course I am trying to figure out how I can get down to 220 before the summers end. Maybe when I move, I can get the bicycle out with a reasonable chance of survival.
 
my gosh... last night i had this huge pork chop for dinner with some rice (bwhahaha atkinites you wish i turned to the dark side.)

i think if i had the pork chop alone, i would have been full forever though. all that protein got to me and made me tired. my bf says if i ate only protein, i'd wind up losing weight since i can't stand to eat such large portions at once and it keeps me full so long...

Yes. Of course make sure there is no enriched bleached flour. Which I'm sure you know well enough by now.
 
I think one thing people overlook is that Atkins mainly steers one away from SIMPLE (sugar, starch) carbs. Complex carbohydrates (fiber, vegetables, etc.) are very healthful, and necessary.

Yes, I have considered doing just that, however I make delicious food that tempts the Gods, while yours gives bad gas.
