AtiTool randomly resets clocks while I am gaming

I often tab out and notice its downclocked my card out of the blue to the lowest allowed settings...any idea why it does this? It's extremely annoying

Are you using 3d detection properly? I place all my games on the force 3d. I make ati tool load a 2d profile @ startup. Load my 3d when I start a game. Load 2d when its closed.

Hello again.

According to this post I read while googling:

"Hi, I dont think alot of people are aware of this but the new 6.5's do not work correctly with the ATI TOOL overclocking utility. Any game that has AVI, MPG, or any video file when it plays it will automatically downclock your video card back to stock specs regardless of the fact that the ATI services responsible for the 2d-3d switch are disabled

This really freakin sucks and it completetly defeats the purpose of me going to the 6.5's. CCC's overclocking feature also sucks compared to ATI TOOLS. I hope that a new version of ATI TOOL will come out soon and fix this crap. "

That's incorrect. I'm using ATI Tool w/ 6.5 and don't have the issue that you do. However, I manually change the settings from 2D to 3D and back before and after gaming.

I do the same and it still resets them. Many people are having the same problems actually from a short google around the web. For now I've been using Ati Tray Tools to increase fan speed and CCC overdrive to OC

Why not use ATI Tray Tools? I have always found it to be superior to ATI Tool in every way. I am using Catalyst 6.5s and it has not faltered in clocks in any game.

I probably would. But it doesnt allow voltage alteration? I also thought it wasnt working for the X1900 series yet

Yep- I have to start up bf2- log in- and then alt-tab out of game and set the clocks I want in ATI Tool. Then it's fine. Bf2 has the initial start up video that downclocks the card with ATI Tool.
