ATITool Artifact Testing?

On my softmodded X800PRO VIVO -> X800XT PE, with a AC ATI Silencer 4, the card shows artifacts using the built-in test in ATITool .23 Beta.

I wanted to know how accurate it is, and if there are any software incompatibilities that would cause it to show errors incorrectly.

I ask because I can game for hours, loop 3DMark01/03/05 without errors or artifacts, but ATITool seems to always show errors.

I heard people say it screws up sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't artifact while the card artifacts in games, so you shouldn't make a big deal out of it, and as long as your games are running fine, forget it.
I don't have personal experience with it since I don't overclock.

I use ATItool on my x800xt and I don't think the artifact testing part works very well. It will say an overclock is all good, but then after firing up 3dmark03 or 05 I will get artifacts.

I know it has found artifacts before, but that was at extreme clock speeds. I would have to theorize that the artifact tool just doesn't stress the gpu enough before it calls the overclock good to go. Maybe it just doesn't stress the card enough so that it heats up and shows artifacts. Just my thoughts on the subject.

The problem is, the shaders on the card. All artifact testers, do not put the pixel shaders or advanced parts of the gpu to use. The best artifact tester would be 3dmark 05(if you have a dx9 card) as it makes heavy use of all the features of the card.

I dont see how it would artifact if your card is fine though. If its artifacting, lower your mem/core speed. The best test is a combination of tests.
