i registered for a RMA service on april 7th, and they replied back to me on the 9th to confirm an e-mail so that they can process the RMA. Its nearly 10 days now and i have received no word on anything. I replied to that same e-mail 3 times, and my only other way of reaching them is that damn $1.25 a minute phone.

What the heck is this all about? Anybody else have similar experiences?

Nope

But where did you buy the card from?

I won't buy from ati directly because of just this fact, I buy from newegg.com and they have a wonderful rma policy.

wow, your long distance rates suck; as for the rma thing, it may have just fell through a crack in the system. maybe you should go to a convenience store and by a phonecard with decent rates to Canada or just send another email to see whats up. or rma though the people you bought it from like Rogozhin. btw, i have only dealt with ati tech support once; they were very helpful for me.

I think the $1.25/min he's referring to is the charge that ATI charges for tech support.

i think their 900 number is even more than that but there is a standard phone number in the owners manual as well.

I like ATI's products, but I will not buy another one of their video cards until they have tech support in the USA. I was shocked when I got an $18+ phone charge to Canada for a 12 minute call. If you must have ATI, get one of the powered by ATI products.

Hehe, I just call up another number for theirs, or I just press another number for a different topic. What they'll do is just transfer you over to someone with a high position who knows what they're talking about and not reading out of a manual.

awww damn

i just had a sick prolem with ATI rma'ing

had to send my defective card in FOUR times, took 3 months to straighten out.

- first time, got the rma number, sent in card...got the same, defective card in the mail

- emailed, apology, new rma number....same thing; letter claiming problem was fixed, card wouldnt work in any of three rigs i tried it in

- email/phone call; apology, we'll replace it...had a mix up (or "drinking problem" as i see it, for the love of god) and i STILL got the same card, defective

- "oh, we mixed something up, meant to replace it" lot of good your "meant to" does me, ive paid to ship the card four GD times before they finally sent a replacement that worked, by which time the card value was prolly $30 less than what id paid for it, nevermind the other $20 it cost me to ship the fvcking thing. i should have gotten a gf 4 for the same 120 bucks and had a better card that worked, dont get me wrong, the 8500 is good for the money

....but mine cost me alot of downtime with my system. i was able to borrow a gf2 for a bit, but ended up getting another radeon from newegg so i could use my computer id recently built. then i had to sell the rma'd radeon at a loss what a pain; sorry you have all this trouble, we each learned the hard way to get our sh!t from newegg next time
