ATI's R420 can do something similar to Nvidias transparency AA

apparently "adaptive AA" can be enabled via a registry hack in the cat 5.9's bit-tech reckon it works by using a mixutre of AA techniques.

also the guy who got it working claims only a 10fps dip in the screens dipicted.
