the source is a taiwanese business newspaper... it'd be like calling the WSJ or the FT unreliable...

If you just bought an Intel computer and you like how it runs, does that make you a fanboy? What if you buy an ATI card, have problems, take it back and get an nVidia card that works. Does that make you an nVidia fanboy? IMO, no. You just like (and recommend) what works for you.

RUN CHIZ, RUN! I CAN ONLY HOLD THEM OFF SO LONG!

The point is not that he's "wrong" for being a fanboy, if someone wants to blindly support a company then so be it. The point is that he insults other people for being fan boys, when he himself is one. It's called being a hypocrite.

Seriously all vendors should switch to something like this.

I suppose if you "blindly" support anything, you would be a fanboy, or at the very least a zealot. Your comments make it seem as if anyone with a degree of brand loyalty is blindly supporting a company as if it were their religion and brand loyalty equates to fanboyism. I've made no attempt at hiding my preference for GPU makers based on my extensive experiences with actual product; I base my opinions on these experiences, not the "blind" faith sermons delivered by the same offenders on these boards who repeatedly spam bad info from the same unreliable, biased source and admit they would never consider nVidia over ATi. What really bothers me is that the same few praise the merits of products they don't own and then call you a fanboy if you criticize their favorite company (and yes, ATi drivers and compatibility still suck IMO). If I come off as "insulting", you probably deserve it for posting garbage. If you think I'm "wrong" and you're "right", back it up. I've got thick e-skin, so feel free and try to "insult" me or hurt my Intar-Web.com feelings, it won't bother me...really.

P.S. If you think the Inquirer is as reliable as the WSJ or FT, do some research on Breakthrough Publishing LTD. (the same fine folks that bring us The Register). Compare their news stories to historical data or even stories they print a few days apart. You'll find their stories are filled with inconsistensies and hearsay, often resulting in threats of legal action. Anyone with a somewhat rudimentary knowledge of the PC industry based on internet chatter would be able to spam the garbage you'll find there. Anyone unable to filter the fact from the fiction published in their stories is a mental midget.
