ATI's HDTV Wonder

ok so my friend wants to hook up his 42 in plasma to his computer so he can play games and stuff on his awsome tv. he also wants to watch tv on his plama. is the HDTV wonder worth it? could i just buy a good tv tuner card and get a HD antenna to hook up to it so i could cut costs (hes buying a new house and every penny counts)

You have to have a HD in addition to the HD antenna to get HD. I'd suggest a Fusion HDTV card though - Hardware based whereas the ATI card is software.

The Fusion card is not hardware-based. Cards like the MyHD are, however.

Hmmm, I thought it was. My bad.

edit: Here's why I thought it was. It's software based but uses your vid cards DXVA capabilities. That takes alot of the load off the cpu.

I plan to get the new MyHD MDP-130 as soon as it comes out. :)
Edit: Mostly for the unencrypted QAM (cable) tuning, which reportedly works a lot better than it does on the Fusion 3 QAM card.

Yeah, I can imagine that it does, I've heard the Fusion 3's QAM isn't very good. If I would have known the MyHD-130 was on the way when I bought the 120, I would have waited.
