ATI's AVIVO

They state on ATI.com that AVIVO will benefit for people who are video editing, watching TV on your computer, or even gaming. I don't understand..how does this affect GAMES? AVIVO = Advanced Video Input Video Output?

It can affect cinematics in games. Nothing else.

AVIVO will accelerate your bullets towards the opponent's head in hardware, thus reducing the CPU overhead.

j/k, I dont think it will do anything for games, it's just marketing...

Nothing for games other than cinematics. AVIVO is strictly for video media, and not for generated images.

AVIVO is designed to resolve some of the issues video faces with lossy video compression, such as color bleeding, dulling of colors, jagged edges. Games are immuned to this as they don't store the media in a compressed format. They are generated to perfection (as allowed by your hardware) on the fly.

Gamers could benefit from higher supported resolutions over DVI with dual, dual-link DVI output and better all around connectivety. Resolution support is supposed to be enhanced consiiderably so you'll have an easier time connecting various displays with more control over pixel mapping and overscan/underscan. Also, 10bit color could enhance color reproduction.

Hmm, I plan to use my gaming rig as a HTPC as well..... should i be considering ATI as opposed to 7800gtx?
