atikmpag BSOD followed by BIOS beeps - laptop won't start

Hello there,

So my laptop has had some problems these past months. First problem was that all of a sudden, my laptop could not start, giving 8 BIOS beeps.

I took it to a repair centre, and I was told that my laptop may not have too much life due to an overheating problem, specifically in the GPU, but they managed to "fix" the problem.

However these last days I got a couple of blue screens out of nowhere. I was doing nothing too graphics intensive (watching videos). One of the blue screens was different however, it mentioned "atikmpag.sys" in the log.

After this BSOD, I tried to turn on my laptop again and the same problem as before - 8 BIOS beeps. Is my laptop gone for good, or is there any possible fix?

Laptop specs:
Dell Inspiron N7010 (Windows 7 64 Bit)
Intel Core i5-460M
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5470 (1GB)
6GB RAM
600GB SATA HDD

Thanks for the help. I can upload BSOD photos if needed.

According to the manual for your laptop, 8 beeps indicate display failure. There isn't any detail as what sort of hardware error that represents (typical Dell) but an educated guess would suggest pulling off the case covers, blowing all the dust out, and reseating all the peripherals and their connectors, for a start.
