I have this graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102830
Around 1-2 times a day my computer will freeze and a colorful pixel pattern will cover parts of my screen. Sometimes after 10 or so seconds the pattern will disappear and the computer will unfreeze and I'll get a notice in the bottom right hand corner of my screen that my display driver had an error but recovered. Other times the pattern won't go away and I'll just get a BSOD and the computer will restart. The dump file from the BSOD says it was caused by atikdag.sys.
This is apparently a pretty common problem with a laundry list of possible solutions: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-art...TIKMDAGhasstoppedrespondingerrormessages.aspx
I've tried several of the solutions, uninstalling the Catylyst Control Suite and decompressing the atikdag.sys file manually, neither of which worked. I'm starting to wonder if my graphics card is just broken and this is a hardware problem. Is there anyway I can diagnose whether its a hardware or software issue? I don't have access to a video card I can try using in it's place unfortunately. Anyone have any experience with this error?
