ATI Xpert 98 $9.99 @ Babbage's

Just got back from the mall here in Monroe, LA.
They had one for $9.99. Seems like a good price for that card.
Other Babbage's might have some similar deals.

I had two of these cards: 1 PCI and 1 AGP - both gave nothing but trouble mainly (but not entirely) due to ATI's cruddy drivers. Both developed a shimmer. I would not touch the PCI one if it was free, but I might give a buck for the AGP one.

Would this card work in it? ?

If it's the compact silver one with the pink handle, (now known as the "burbie" pc), then no.

The burbie doesn't have any AGP, PCI or ISA slots.

Heya Mday.

Fordlorider: I'll probably go back by the mall saturday, if they still have it I'll get it and get back with you.

I don't remember if it was AGP or PCI though.

Thanks for the info Rab. 🙂

heya semper.

I've never had an ATI card work for a second display. I've heard the same from others. But for $10, give it a shot. 🙂

Well I can do 20 for an AGP, 15 for a PCI card. GL on your searches Semper, if it has a TV tuner and it's PCI, get me 2 please 🙂.

This card would even be fine for a primary display - provided you don't play ANY 3D games.
For 2D, it's good and crisp up to a decent res. It's no Matrox and RAMDAC is a little slow for 1600x1200 folks. RAM is a bit low for that res too. But 1024x768 workstations, it'll SHINE.
