ATI Xpert 2000 16Mb (Rage 128 Pro) compatible with MVP3?

Since I use my computer primarily for serious use and DVD, I've decided to invest in the ATI Xpert 2000 16Mb (Rage Pro 128 chipset) with TVout since they're so cheap.

The specs say it's a 2x/4x card compatible with AGP 2.0.

My motherboard is an infamous SS7 MVP3 with AGP 1.0 specs, but does support 2x mode (never have got the thing working at 2x with my G200; still performance increase is only marginal with this enabled)

Please could someone tell me if this card will work fine with my system (and will it default to 1X AGP mode) before I go and shell out the cash.

It will work but it might be a minor hassle getting it to work. You might want to check out the forums and driver suggestions at Rage Underground to see if anyone has been having issues and what they have done to overcome them. And AGP 1x vs. 2x is a non-issue since the performance difference is zero under non-gaming uses like DVD playback and office apps.
