ATI X800XTPE AGP Refurb $266 Shipped

Refurbed... Newegg video card refurbs don't have a good history - lots of DOA from what I hear, whereas the last deal from ATI, the actually shipped out new cards.

Not only that, but ATi also gave a 3 year warranty. What's Newegg's waranty on refurbs?

Newegg gives 14 days, after that you have to deal with the manufacturer. Connect3D gives a 2 year warranty on white box and retail cards. I don't know where this OEM "6063B" fits in. The regular x800XT PE is just part no. 6063. I wouldn't touch this "deal" with dani's credit card. 😉 Too risky.

Got 1 refurb video card from Newegg...got 1 DOA refurb video card from Newegg...I will get NO more DOA refurb video cards from Newegg (nor ChiefValue either😉)

Interesting you mentioned ChiefValue. I ordered 2 "refurb" (i.e. untested returns) video cards last week and one was bad. I returned it 3 days ago and ChiefValue received it 2 days ago according to tracking. I emailed them today to get the status. They claim to not have received it yet.

I'm going to do a chargeback if they don't "find" it by Monday. I have more trouble with newegg/chiefvalue than any other company i buy online from.

What's up with all the Newegg "fans" that leave reviews on their site. I mean, they make it sound like Newegg is the greatest store on earth. Have you read their product reviews? "Newegg rocks" ra ra ra and so on. But what do they do that makes them so great? Deliver your stuff on time? That's what we pay them for! And I love how they purposely estimate the delivery time a day ahead of schedule. On every review you see people write "It came a day early!". Dumb ass it allways comes a day early!

Newegg filters their reviews and post (mostly) favorable reviews. Basically, anything negative is usually censored.

I have posted several honest reviews on Newegg - some positive and some negative. The positive reviews appeared and the negative reviews never got posted (without exception). If that practice by Newegg is not dishonest, it is at the least unethical.

BTW, based on what I have read from others on these forums, I wouldn't touch a Newegg refurbished product - regardless of how attractive the price was. Basically, if you get a refurbished item from the Egg and it works, golden. If you get a refurbished item and it doesn't work - living heck. I don't like coin toss odds and the virtual lack of warranty.

As far as the ATI refurbished Radeon X800 XT PE card sale went, I received a card that looked refurbished (not new), but it runs flawlessly and ATI gave three-year warranties with the refurbished cards. ATI has treated me very well on the two warranty claims I have had with them in the past. So well, in fact, that I make it a point to look at their products first when I'm looking to make a purchase.

I guess that about covers everything. 🙂

JR

PS: I sometimes buy at the Egg, but I get charged sales tax and on bigger ticket items that makes their prices not as competitive as I can find elsewhere (like Monarch and others).
