I like how Gateway gets slammed HARD (deservedly so), and CDW gets a pass at least on most accounts.
Sheesh! Double-standards anyone?!
I guess there are fanboys for resellers as well.

I don't know why people are so "passionate" for companies/products/websites, etc.
Since you brought it up, I think there's several reasons why Gateway took a beating here and CDW did not.
Gateway:
1. Gateway showed the XT's in stock - people paid for next day shipping, etc.
2. Some orders were cancelled without reason or permission.
3. For every 10 people who ordered from Gateway, there were 10 different stories from the CSR's.
CDW:
1. ETA has changed twice that I know of via CSR - website is and has been consistant with "2+ weeks".
I myself couldn't care less either way. I have no loyalty.

I've said nothing bad about either place. I just want my card.

I think the hold-up is clearly with ATI. I know of only 1 person with a BBA card, and that is Ferris from this forum.
Like others, I'm willing to wait in order to get a good price. Now if some other website was shipping these out left and right, that would be frustrating.
Just so you know, read my post like I said. Gateway was told by ATi to do it. Gateway is NOT the 3rd party resaler, the "Accessory Store" is not Gateway run. The "Accessory Store" doesn't even have its own warehouse. It is only a portal to the actual vendors and their stockpiles. ATi has no stockpiles.
Furthermore, a day or two after the initial offering, the website changed to 2-4 weeks. The guy said that the date is from a list, they can't actually edit the exact date. 2-4 weeks is the largest timespan. There is no 4+ weeks option. Why? Stupid planning.
I am no fanboy, I will most likely never order anything from Gateway again. I love CDW and Newegg. The GW price was right. They shouldn't have been bashed. End of story.
The CSRs had to deal with hundreds of irrate teenagers, and older men, screaming about a ridiculously priced graphics card. After the first day, they were told what the could, or couldn't say. Give a date, it's wrong, you call back mad again. Give an explaination, it isn't good enough, get bashed online again. The internet community is killer. Give it a rest.[/quote]
I don't know whether you are taking a hostle position to my message or not. If you are, I don't understand it. As I thought I made clear, I couldn't care less about either company or their ratings. I have bought from both as a regular consumer, and continue to buy from CDW at the company I work for. This is about getting a video card. I ordered one from CDW. I have posted what my rep has told me. The ETA has changed to about a week longer than I was originally told (my rep always said there was no definite ETA from the vendor). I posted today that I was told July 6th. Then another forum member said CDW should be hammered as bad as Gateway because of this.
My comment about fanboys for resellers was in response to the claim that some will only attack Gateway and not other vendors that screw up big. That can be taken as defending Gateway if you want to look at it that way. However, it's crazy to say that CDW did the same thing that Gateway did. CDW is guilty of CSR's changing the ETA (based off of what ATI is telling them). I don't see any poor judgement or mistreatment of their customers there. Sorry. Gateway is guilty of the exact same thing...but here's the difference, they are also guilty of the other things that have been mentioned already (saying it was in stock, cancelling orders, etc). So people got upset (I'm not one of them. I didn't even order from them...I DON'T CARE!) and posted bad feedback. Seemed like an over-reaction to me, but I can understand some people's frustrations.
Now the fact that you say that Gatway isn't the Accessory Store... well, I see what you are trying to say, but doesn't it have to work against Gateway if something goes wrong, and work for them if it goes right? I mean, the Accessory Store isn't some business that stole the name "Gateway" to put on their site in order to get more orders. Gateway is getting some type of reimbersment for their name being used. When something goes wrong, the downside is that it reflects on them. You can't have it both ways, and claim ignorance when things get screwed up.
AGAIN, all that being said, I couldn't care less about giving bad rating or being a "fanboy" of ANY vendor. ATI builds a better card than Nvidia, I'll buy it. Nvidia builds a better card, I'll buy it. K-mart has the best deal on the card, I'll buy it... You get the picture.
I just take exception to comments that "Everyone should trash CDW" and "If you don't trash CDW for doing the same thing, your opinions are worthless, and so are you.". You are saying in one breath how wrong it is to over-react and hurt a company, but then you condone it for another company that didn't do anything wrong to it's customers? I don't get it.
