That thing is legit. My wife had a X2 3800+ @ 2.66Ghz with built-in x1200. Once I installed Sims 2, it would get 10-15fps @ 1440x900, all High. Popped an x700 Pro in it, and framerate is now stable ~50-60. It's equivalent to 9800Pro in performance.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it'll play "all the latest FPS games," even if you drop the resolution and detail settings, but it'll certainly help out anyone who has an older system with integrated graphics and wants a cheap starter gaming card. Anything that isn't too demanding will probably work great.

But yeah, it's still a good deal at that price and a huge improvement over a lot of video chipsets present in certain older computers.

Don't forget $8.00 shipping.

comes out to $23.29 total before Live cash.

I got a 9500GT 512mb for $27.00 AR a few weeks ago, which is qite a bit better than this, still this is not a bad deal if need a Video card as cheap as possible and don't want to do a rebate.

dont be so sure about that ;)
if better= has newer shader and dx10 support and a greater amount of RAM, then yes, but I would be curious to pit your card against a x700pro at low resolutions (to eliminate the memory amount difference as a factor) and in a shader2.0 game... you might be surprised.

ps- I got MSI OEM x1600 pci-e 256mb cards w/ dual DVI for $14.99 from directron 1-2months ago...
heh- still there

Hmm, why does it state it has 6 Pixel Pipelines? I thought the X700pro came with 8 pipelines just like a Radeon 9800?

I second that thought about the cards performance. I wouldn't be a bit surprised, if it performed better than 9500gt.

Wow, much hotter deal.

Now THAT is a solid backup card. Well, not compared to my 8800GTS or my 3850...

why would they put this in a full pci-express 16x slot? This card isnt fast enough to saturate 1x slot. this is an irritating phenomenon as this would be a great card to throw in a graphics workstation to drive a multiple monitor setup if it would fit in all those spare 1x slots.

decent enough deal, criticism is for manufacturer not poster.

Ill go with a pair of the sub $70 4830 with 2 DVI ports to drive my setup.

Thanks

...
Thanks

ok- you had me till "1x slot"
LOL!
4x minimum (and I wouldnt use less than 8x) -trust me- the x700PRO is no slouch- just low on RAM, and with only 128mb of onboard RAM it will be swapping to system memory much more than a card with more RAM, so it will need faster path to system bus.
But yeah, I understand your point- if just for 2d winxp multimonitor support it probably wouldnt need as much (not vista prem or higher though as it useds the cards 3d functions and more graphic memory),
but I just dont think you will find anyone making a video card that is or was originally designed as a gaming card in anything but a 16x PCI-E design.

DirectX 9.0b on the X700.
DirectX 9c with the X1600, and subsequent models.

Wonder how they compare to the current AMD HD3200-3300 integrated graphics? The 780G motherboards play L4D and COD4 at low res on integrated video.

Compare - The X700 Pro beats the X1600 Pro in Memory Bandwidth, Pixel Fill Rate, Texture Fill Rate, and Vertex Operations.

I notice that comparison is for a x1600pro using DDR2 RAM. The x1600s from Directron are listed as GDDR3 which is a whole different story.
AND!!!... according to that comparison site, the x1600XT is 590gpu/690mem clocks and the clock rates listed at directron for their x1600 is 600gpu, 700mem which makes the Directron card FASTER than an x1600XT. WHOLE nother story. Still loses in texture and pixel fill rates, but the shader Ops TROUNCE the x700pro. Shader Ops pefromance is better for newer games.

Is that faster or slower than, say, a GeForce FX5900XT AGP 128MB?
