In particular
100118L-RD Radeon X550 128MB 128-bit DDR PCI Express x16
vs
XFX PVT44FRAMG Geforce 6500 Supporting 256MB(128MB on board) 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16

for my emachines T3304 (sempron 3300+, K8MC51G motherboard)

working as a media center and connecting via DVI to syntax olevia 30" ?

The current on board video (nvidia 6100 gpu) connected thru VGA is not stable. (using powerstrip in default mode to get a better picture).

Specs wise, it seems that x550 should be better.
But will it work nicely with the nividia motherboard?

so what is the collective wisdom?

Thanks

Both will work perfectly on your nvidia mobo but don't expect any one the game play your new games at high res or some game even run them at decent Frame rate.

But i do go for ATI 5500 because its 128bit and has a higher clock speed.

thanks!

and does DDR and DDR2 make much difference?
I suppose it has nothing to do with the regular memory, which is only DDR for this computer.

no, there wont be much gaming on this. (other than games from playhousedisney.com :D) this is for media center. my gaming rig has 9800 pro. (I know its not much now, but when I built that rig 3 years ago, it was the card to have :D)

ATI x550 it is. I would have liked x800, but this one is quite cheap, $45 after rebates :D
(also comp has only 300W PSU, x800 will require bigger PSU)
