ATI X1900XT not functioning

ok... I've got a problem. My ATI branded X1900XT is not working. When plugged into the computer, the computer does not boot and there is no display, not even a bios boot up screen. so I can't even get into bios.
There is a red LED on the card that is near the ext power connector that is illuminated.
The computer will boot with just the crossfire card installed and will boot if I put another X1900XT card in the slot. So... i know it's my first X1900XT card is the problem (which for some reason, the ATI Support People can't seem to get that through thier thick heads)
so... my question is.
Does anyone know what the red LED indicates... as to what might possibly be the problem?... on the good card, the Green LED is light when functioning properly.
i know its not the power supply, cause it works fine with the other cards.

thanks for any assistance.

What is the power supply anyways? Did you remember the extra PCI-e power connector?

Have you tried each card in each slot? With both cards and alone?

Would the GPU even recognize that it doesn't have enough power to function properly in the first place ?

I'm asking because I don't know anything about Crossfire or even SLi. I'd be sweet though. If you don't have enough power then you'd get that warning coming from the LED. Is it the case ?

He's running an A8N SLI Deluxe. Rig in sig. What PSU, though, for sure.

That's the old system.

I had the card in a dell8400 for a few months (card worked fine for a few months)... and then the computer stopped working. I put the nvidia 6600 back into the dell and the dell worked fine again.

The new system has the OCZ OCZ700GXSSLI GameXStream 700W Power Supply.
I know it's the video card because I have another X1900XT in crossfire mode in an Asus P5W DH Deluxe, and the system runs fine. The system does not run with the first X1900XT... The system runs fine with the second X1900XT with a X1900XTX crossfire card... so the powersupply has enough juice to run the system.
I've already done the swap card in different slots... I have even taken the card and put it in different systems... the card just doesn't work. and the card "kills" any system I put it in while the card is in the system.
I was hoping if there was someone that knows what the red LED indicator hints at what is wrong with the card. I'll fix the card myself if need be... I just need a starting point. (unless I can get ATI/AMD to fix it.. which they have been of no help so far)

Good move ... anything you do yourself will void the warranty.
