I have an ATI x1800XT 256MB that I gotten for $220 at the time on newegg. Now I was hoping to get one cheap and they disappeared from every online store. I don't think I want a x1650xt or x1950pro, the ATI x1800XT is faster.

Should I pickup one on ebay or get something else for under $200.

The x1800xt has not been in production for a while now, so it's unlikely you'll find one for a decent price. For around $250 an even better card would be a x1900xt 256mb.

Do you have benchmarks to prove this? I don't think it is faster, considering it isn't much faster then the X1900GT it is replacing. The X1950Pro is on a par with the 7900GS/700GT, both of which are slower then the X1800XT. I currently own a X1800XT and considered picking up a 1950Pro to replace it, but I really have no real reason to do so. Running Folding@Home on it is about the only positive advantage vs the X1800XT.

The X1950 Pro has better Shader Operation performance due to the number of Fragment Pipelines (16 for the X1800 XT, and 36 for the X1950 Pro). However the X1800 XT is still better at everything else, more Pixel Fill Rate, more Texture Fill Rate and better Vertex Operation performance, mostly due to its higher Core and Memory frequencies. Once OC'ed however the X1950 Pro can easily reach the X1800 XT speeds and efficiency, and ... on the other hand, an OC'ed X1800 XT will always be better than the X1950 Pro. Overall the X1800 XT is still better. Oh, and the X1950 Pro has a 80nm fabrication process if I am not mistaken, which results in less heat and perhaps less power consumption (even if negligible).

Depends a lot on the game. If it makes extensive use of pixel shaders (F.E.A.R. is a good example) then the X1950 Pro will be faster, but the X1800XT has a bit more brute force to play older games or games that don't use shaders much (HL2 Engine). An X1900XT will be faster than both of those card however.
