I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with an ATI x1400 GPU. I recently put AS5 on my video card and CPU and have seen mixed results. My CPU is idling at about 32C. My ATI x1400 is idling at 65C. Is this normal? I am monitoring temps with I8KFanGUI

E1505/6400 with x1400 Owners:
Please do me a big favor. If you have the laptop with the above video card, please download and install this temp monitoring program:
http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/
After installing go to Options -> Status Reading Tab -> and enable:
-Read CPU temperature
-Read GPU temperature
-Read memory temperature
-Read chipset temperature
-Read hard drive temperatures (Select drive 1: 0)
-Read speed of first fan
-Read status of first fan
-Read CPU Load
-Read current CPU Speed.
Hit ok.
Back on the other page you should see all the temperatures.
Could somebody please tell me their GPU Temp along with the State of first fan. I would like to compare it with mine.
Mine is 65C at Slow 2650RPM.

Thanks.

Idle is high but GPU have higher tolerance for heat than CPUs. The more important question is, do you play games (like 3D shooters). If you do I would test temps on load. As long as you don't go any higher than 90 its still "okay".

If you don't really play any intense games (like all you do is play original Counterstrike or Warcraft 3 or something, all CPU intensive games) you shouldn't have any problems.

I loaded up NFSU2 on maximum settings for 2 minutes, didn't even enter a race, and it hit 80C.

Do you have an option to turn off powerplay in the catalyst control center? I noticed when I turned powerplay off my temps dropped about 20 degrees.

I called Dell on the issue and after 2 hrs of convincing and lying I got them to send me a replacement card. Popped in the new card and it idles at 39C and plays NFSU2 on highest settings without problems. I'll also try turning off Powerplay but I don't think it'll drop the temp any. 39C idle is pretty good.
