ATI vs. Nvidia Dual Monitor Setup

Anybody have any input on this? I've been running dual monitors with Nvidia for a long while now. I tried ATI for a short time but there dual monitor support was lacking at the time.

How have they improved in relation to Nvidia? Are they better, worse, or same as before? I'm interesting in going with a 3870X2 but want to make sure it's a good switch.

Thoughts?

until Cat 8.1 i would have said that AMD's dual display "works" and that nvidia's shines

i *hated* CCC and the many little issues with 2 monitors - 'forgetting' settings mostly ... BUT .. with the very latest Cats, i find AMD has *finally* got a good solution

I always liked NV's solution for dual monitors better. Not 100% where I want it to be, but it gives more/better control than that of ATI's. At least it did. Haven't tried with a 3850 yet because I'm still in the middle of moving and things are all over the place.

nvidia solution gives you option to use two monitors as a single display, which is not same as dual displays. For example, taskbar is spread across both monitors in that case.

What I'm looking for is a setup similar to the screenshot in the 3870 X2 Sanity article. My current nVidia setup has a primary and secondary monitor with the start bar on the monitor I choose. I can mouse back and forth so in a way it acts as one monitor except I only play on the primary when it comes to gaming.

I use dual-displays at work on an x1600 without no complaints - no CCC installed, just the display driver. Works fine. I use MultiMon to put a task bar on the second display.
