You know how some bands have a "hidden" song at the end of their albums and it usually takes a while in silence to get to the song? Well anyways during that silence with my 9800Pro I get these 5 second lags and have no control over anything including the mouse until the song starts and that really sux. I also remember this with my 9500 Pro that I had a while back and that was a totally different system so I am certain that this goes for all or most ATI cards. BTW Im using windows media player for the music.

Apparently it has a lot to do with it even when I turn the visualizations off. This never happened with any of my Nvidia's so I am sure its the video card and like I said it did the same thing with my 9500 Pro on a different system.

About the only thing i could see that would possibly have an effect, is that dma is not enabled for your cd-rom or how about checking cd properties that digital cd audio is checked.

Everything seems fine. Maybe my drives just suck ass! They are about 5 years old anyway. ATI cards dont suck they are very nice! lol Ill be getting some new drives within the next two weeks so Ill see if I like ATI then :)

i really doubt it's the video card, what do you use to play the music? perhaps it uses some kind of sound wave recognition and turns off if it hears nothing for a certain period of time? maybe you have it on track-at-once. i dunno. but i'm going to see if my 9800 does that for a secret song, and then we'll see how the axe slices through the meat!
