ATI video cards on an Nvidia based board

Is using ATI video cards on an Nvidia chip based motherboard an issue? Or is it an issue depending on board, or is this a non issue at all? I have been out of the building a system loop for quite a while and there is just so many compatibility issues that I don't even know about anymore.

Non-issue, except you won't be able to run Crossfire.

ATI cards work on Nvidia chipsets and vice versa. I don't think either company has much to gain by making their products incompatible.

cool thanks...yeah Crossfire isn't a big concern for me at this point. I would have liked it, but there just aren't enough quad core, crossfire boards out there that are reasonably price.
