ATI Video Card Warranty Support

I've got a busted video card:

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...5821&enterthread=y

It's an ATI, undoubtedly. The ATI lookup verifies it to be exactly what it's supposed to be - a 9500. And yet the warranty RMA request doesn't have an option for a 9500 - just 9500 pro. So two attempts at sending the request including putting in the message that it's a 9500 not a 9500 Pro, have failed. And I gotta have this damn thing fixed. So what's the deal? I can't find an actual email to send to (just a circular logic trick on the website) and there aren't any phone numbers that seem applicable.

Just mark it as a pro in the RMA form. They'll know what card it is when you send it back. Don't bother phoning them as they'll charge you by the minute.

They will definately fix the card as it should have a 3-5 year warranty depending on whether or not it was purchased retail or OEM.

I did mark it as a pro in both attempts. If they accept it as a pro even though it's a 9500, then it's a p/n or s/n issue - there are two sets of numbers, the set taht's underlined on the site and a space, then another set, for each the s/n and p/n. Should I add the second set of numbers to my next RMA req?

I got a 9800 Pro that died on me but had a silencer fan on it. Will ATI still replace if I put original back in?

Technically they shouldn't because you voided the warrenty. But who knows, might as well try though.

I guess what I want to know is if anyone else has done this and gotten a replacement.

I'm sure you could slip it by them if you just attach the stock fan and ship it. I don't really find upgrading the cooling *correctly* and then the card dying from natural causes to be morally wrong but if OCing the thing kills it isn't another story. But it is your choice either way.

Nope I oc'd it and got very minumal results when I attached the Silencer so then I decided to leave at default. So I only had it oc'd max for 10 mins to test. I will fill out the forms and try.

Some people have said they advised Ati they had a different fan from stock on it when the card died and Ati covered it anyway's. There is a thing called a "good will repair" which Ati seems to do quite frequently.

Also if you fill out the form on the net and choose the "repair" option, they will email you an RMA#. They are currently very slow on their RMA returns. someone mentioned here that they had a problem with one of their subs that does warranty repairs and ships out the re-furbs they use for warranty replacements.

Are those reportings recent?
